The Technical Touch
Over the initial phase of the project, the Administrative Information Management System (AIMS) project teams focused on determining the features of a business management solution that would meet the needs of the provincial health system.

Outwardly, the challenge lay in designing a solution that would deliver a product that addressed the operational and reporting requirements for each of
the identified streams including finance, human resources and supply chain management.
Under the hood, the technical aspects of converging the immense stores of provincial data is the task of a dedicated Technical Team. “The ongoing challenge
the system has faced has been to access source data from 12 former health regions and 3 health care partner organizations,” noted Trent Mitchell, Technical
Lead. “When accessibility is an issue, it interferes with the streamlining of business processes.”
Alvin Toffler, noted author and businessman once stated “You’ve got to think about big things while you’re doing small things, so that all the small things
go in the right direction.” It is a sentiment that is not lost on the AIMS Technical Team.
“The task is enormously complex, so we employed a rigorous evaluation process to ensure that we went in the right direction given all the moving parts,”
said Mitchell. “The end goal is to achieve accessibility and the normalization of the data to the benefit of the entire health system, so significant
attention to detail is important to accomplish the end goal.”
The AIMS project is tailor-made for minds that thrive on detail, and fortunately, the Technical Team is up for the challenge. “Little things may keep me
up at night, but it’s the promise of big picture gains that fuels the forward motion,” Mitchell said. We could not agree more.
