When One is Better Than a Dozen

A dozen eggs are good, a dozen doughnuts even better, but a dozen former regions with approximately 82 non-integrated business systems is not quite as positive. Thereby, making the point that more is not always better.

When One is Better than a Dozen

A dozen eggs are good, a dozen doughnuts even better, but a dozen former regions with approximately 82 non-integrated business systems is not quite as positive. Thereby, making the point that more is not always better.

A truly unified provincial organization requires consolidated information to advance the interests of all who benefit from our health care system. Whether it is decision makers, employees, patients, clients, residents or vendors, the right information at the right time is crucial to ensuring the overall effectiveness of the organization.

Moving away from many distinct operations to one coordinated business system is essential to realizing an end-state where expectations are consistently met.

“Significant strides have been made to bring provincial health care needs to the forefront through the creation a single health authority,” said Kendell Arndt, AIMS Project Sponsor. “The AIMS project is an important initiative to align the province in the administration of health care services. Creating a foundation on which to build a solid business process is essential for the entire province.”

Standardization is key to bringing together our twelve former health regions into one highly functional operation that is inclusive and connected. Removing duplication, gaining from best practices, sharing standards and working as one will fulfill the mandate to achieve system-wide transformation to the betterment of patients and families.
